hello dark waves

it was evening when i got here and it was evening again when we got out of the house.

the first time i'm seeing a sky like this over the sunny andalusia. it's something like sleeping but wide awake, like loving but hating too. we could be walking like this endlessly, i could. the entire city has christmas flowers on their windows sills. either these, or santas crawling on their walls to reach a certain window. but more often than santa are the magi, the three kings climbing away.'on the 6th they will throw candy in the air' he said. 'who will?' 'los reyes'. dad is speaking a quarter spanish and three quarters romanian and i keep taking pictures of these orange buildings.

even the light posts are orange. even punks with red hair give an orange vibe. an asian man is looking down on a lower balcony at a woman looking like her lion statue looking at someone walking his dogs. probably one out of three people around here loves a dog. cats, from a distance. they live wildly on the streets. nobody tames one, but brings them food. every vagabond cat is the fattest cat i have ever seen. every time i think that, another fatter one shows up, so the fattest cat ever seen is fatter and fatter until i'm afraid to see any more cats.

the sea is here and i am here and it's a date. there are traffic lights for the waves and everybody else is walking on the seafront with layered clothing as if it was the coldest season on the planet. there's a thick fog wrapping the mountains while a man is taking a picture of his wife. their small girl is spinning around with her eyes closed. all parents are relaxed here and the kids are, too. you never hear scolding or spoiled brat tantrums. the girl is taking an imaginary shot of her baby sibling while a bunch of backpackers are marching on.

finally stepping into the sea. what a date. everything deserted, this post apocalyptic weather, the lonely shower stands. just us now. on this side of the sea wall, because the city's rambla is squirming with humans watching tree lights and dogs watching humans' back.

we walk home down avenues with green glittery windows and lorca.
